Cardiff University (Welsh: Prifysgol Caerdydd)
is a public research university located in Cardiff, Wales, United Kingdom. Founded in 1883 as the University College of South Wales and Monmouthshire, it became one of the founding colleges of the University of Wales in 1893, and in 1997 received (but held in abeyance) its own degree-awarding powers. It adapted the public name of Cardiff University in 1999, and in 2005 this became its legal name as it left the University of Wales to become an independent University awarding its own degrees.

Requirements for Cardiff University India scholarships Qualification

The 2025 Cardiff University India Scholarships are open to all eligible India-domiciled students enrolling on a select number of postgraduate programmes commencing in both January and September 2025.

Eligibility criteria – January 2025 intake

Conditional offer holders

  • You must submit your application to the University by 7 January 2025
  • You must accept your offer and pay your deposit by 7 January 2025 unless your deposit deadline is after this date, in which case, your deposit must be paid by your initial deposit deadline and your offer accepted within 14 days of it being made.
  • You must meet all the offer conditions, including any English Language conditions as stated in your offer by 7 January 2025.
  • Applicants who do not meet the conditions of their offer will not be eligible for the Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarship, even if they are accepted into the University.

Unconditional Offer Holders

  • You must submit your application to the University by 7 January 2025
  • You must accept your offer and pay your deposit by 7 January 2025 (unless your deposit deadline is after this date, in which case, your deposit must be paid by your initial deposit deadline and your offer accepted within 14 days of it being made.
  • You must meet the original admissions criteria for your programme. Applicants who do not meet the original admissions criteria will not be eligible for the Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarship, even if they are accepted into the University.

Eligibility criteria – September 2025 intake

Eligibility criteria and deadlines for the September 2025 intake are currently being finalised and will be published shortly. Details of the September 2024 criteria are included below for reference.

Conditional offer holders

  • You must submit your eligible course application to the University by 31 July 2024
  • You must accept your offer and pay your deposit by 31 July 2024 unless your deposit deadline is after this date, in which case, your deposit must be paid by your initial deposit deadline and your offer accepted within 14 days of it being made. Deposit deadline extensions past 31 July 2024 will not be accepted for scholarship purposes
  • You must meet all the offer conditions, including any English Language conditions as stated in your offer by 20 August 2024
  • Applicants who do not meet the conditions of their offer will not be eligible for the Cardiff University £5,000 India Scholarship, even if they are accepted into the University

Unconditional Offer Holders

  • You must submit your eligible course application to the University by 31 July 2024
  • You must accept your offer and pay your deposit by 31 July 2024 unless your deposit deadline is after this date, in which case, your deposit must be paid by your initial deposit deadline and your offer accepted within 14 days of it being made. Deposit deadline extensions past 31 July 2024 will not be accepted for scholarship purposes.
