AKAGERA NATIONAL PARK VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

Akagera Management Company Ltd (AMC Ltd) was created from the agreement between African Parks and Rwanda Development Board to manage Akagera National Park. AMC Ltd invites applications for the position of Assistant Mechanic, based in Akagera National Park, Eastern Rwanda. The successful candidate will report to the Field Operations Manager and will be responsible for supporting the Head Mechanic in implementing timely preventive and scheduled maintenance across the fleet of vehicles owned by AMC.

JOB TITLE: Assistant Mechanic

LOCATION: Akagera National Park, Eastern Rwanda

REPORTS TO: Field Operations Manager

STARTING DATE: ASAP 

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

  1. Head Mechanic
  2. Workshop Team
  3. Operation Manager
  4. All Managers 

Duties and Key responsibilities not exhaustive

  1. Vehicle Mechanical Repair – Quality & Timeliness
  • Ensure all vehicles are maintained according to schedules.
  • Perform urgent maintenance as needed.
  • Plan and coordinate maintenance work effectively.
  1. Workshop Organization
  • Maintain a clean and orderly working space.
  • Ensure proper storage and recording of all oils and lubricants.
  • Organize and maintain tools, reporting any damages.
  1. Administration
  • Keep up-to-date records of all work performed on vehicles.
  • Support the store’s team in managing spare parts.

Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills, Knowledge and Abilities) Required

  • Rwandan citizen.
  • Sound foundational mechanical knowledge and qualifications (demonstration of qualifications necessary).
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and be flexible
  • Computer literate, including Microsoft word, Excel, and Internet
  • Team player with excellent attention to details
  • Strong communication skills in English and Kinyarwanda
  • Clean record of conduct (no convictions)
  • Driver’s license.
  • Physically fit and able to be in field for extended periods (to undergo fitness and medical annually)
  • Between 18 and 35 years of age.

Added advantage

  • Born and living near Akagera National Park
  • English/Kiswahili language skills are positive.
  • Willingness to learn.
