External Engagement Professional Intern at World Vision Rwanda

World Vision is a child-focused Christian humanitarian organization implementing development programmes in 30 Districts of Rwanda. Our interventions in the strategic period of 2021-2025 seek to reach 2 million of the most vulnerable children. This is done through programming in Resilience and Livelihoods, WASH and Health, Child Protection and Education.

Purpose of the ExternaL Engagement Intern

The role of the intern is to coordinate all WVR external engagement initiatives, monitoring of Key Line Ministries MOUs implementation and quarterly reporting on those MOUs, participate in external meetings with Government officials, donors, other strategic partners and key stakeholders, compile meeting minutes and follow up on actions. Participate in all strategy refresh sessions and follow up on actions related to external engagement, work closely with TP Managers and other senior staff who participates in Sector working groups to truck them, document the key meeting themes, outcomes and actions for further follow up.

The intern will be guided on the internal processes and procedures in facilitating the above tasks.

The intern will report to the Government relations and Partnership Advisor.

Major Responsibilities

  1. Coordination of WVR External engagement initiatives
    1. Compile the plan for all WVR external engagement meetings and truck progress
    2. Participate external engagement meetings, document learnings and actions for follow up
    3. Prepare or review concept notes for various events both internal and external
  2. Monitoring of Key Line Ministries MOUs implementation and quarterly reporting on those MOUs
    1. Populate the monitoring tool for MOUs implementation for regular and quarterly updates
    2. Organise meetings with technical points persons to share updates and progress on MOUs
    3. Facilitate new MOUs development and coordinate the review of existing MOUs
  3. Participate in external meetings with Government officials, and other key Strategic Partners
    1. Organise and participate in meetings with Government officials and other key strategic partners
    2. Compile meeting minutes and follow up on actions
    3. Follow up on government correspondences and requests for appropriate responses and actions
  4. Work closely with TP Managers and other senior staff who attends Sector working groups
    1. Truck Technical team’s external engagements and meetings
    2. In collaboration with technical teams, document key meeting themes, outcomes and actions for
    3. Update the external engagement tool/dashboard with the most updated information as necessary
  5. Participate in strategy refresh sessions and follow up on required actions
    1. Organise meetings with relevant Governments partners who contributes to the strategy
    2. Participate in strategy refresh working groups
    3. Facilitate and provide information required for the strategy refresh
  6.  Reporting and documentation
    1. Facilitate RGB reports compilation and share with GR for submission
    2. Document best practices for dissemination with external audience
    3. Prepare power point presentations for various meeting audiences

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Social Sciences, Political Science, Development Studies, Public relations and marketing

  • Speak fluently Kinyarwanda, English and/or French

Preferred Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

  1. Well organized, with a high degree of accuracy and attention to details
  2. Strong computer skills especially working in word, excel and power point
  3. Forward-thinking and innovative, with an ability to engage, research and analyze data
  4. Self-motivated and with the ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic team environment
  5. Good skill in writing reports, power point presentations and meeting minutes taking
